A few months ago I posted about Google Transit and its addition of NJ TRANSIT train schedules.

Now, NJ TRANSIT buses have been added, as well as PATH trains, NYC subway trains and buses, LIRR trains, and Metro-North trains.

To get transit estimates, go to Google Transit. Put in your starting point and final destination and your time of departure or arrival and you can get directions over many different service providers, as well as walking directions between station connections and stations and destinations.

This is an awesome integration of mass transit services provided in the New York metro area.

This Saturday is the first of three "Summer Streets" events to be held in NYC this summer.

http://www.nyc.gov/html/dot/summerstreets/html/home/home.shtml

Summer Streets will take place for three consecutive Saturdays in August (August 9, 16, & 23) from 7:00 am - 1:00 pm. The route will connect the Brooklyn Bridge with Central Park and there will be recommended connections to the Hudson River Greenway, allowing participants to plan a route as long or short as they wish.

This event takes a valuable public space - our City's streets - and opens them up to people to play, walk, bike, and breathe. Summer Streets provides more space for healthy recreation and is a part of NYC's greening initiative by encouraging New Yorkers to use more sustainable forms of transportation.

Modeled on other events from around the world including Bogotá, Colombia's Ciclovia, Paris, France's Paris Plage, and even New York's own Museum Mile, this event will be part bike tour, part block party, a great time for exercise, people watching, and just enjoying summer mornings.

This event is for people of all ages and ability levels to share the streets respectfully.

It should be pretty cool. There will be activity areas along the route with dance classes, aerobics and yoga classes, and cycling classes. For a complete list of activities, click here. I encourage everyone who can to come out and enjoy the chance to enjoy the additional space being turned over to pedestrians and cyclists. This is experimental, so these three weekends could be all that we see (but hopefully not!). Bring a bike if you'd like, or you could just bring yourself.

I'll be volunteering all day, so maybe I will see some of you around.

NJ TRANSIT is now on Google Transit. They don't have fare information, yet (this is something that is typically computed). You can put in your departure and arrival destination, and even include things like "by 7:30" or "at 7:30" to define your departure or arrival times. You don't have to put in station names, either: you can just put in your starting and finishing addresses. It provides walking estimates, but not walking routes.

Some problems with it:
-The rail networks are not actually displayed; instead, they have created rail lines by connecting the station points, instead of following the railroad right-of-way.

-The RiverLINE, HBLR, and Newark Light Rail are included, but the stations are not displayed on the map, nor can you ask for directions to these station names.

Also, in regular Google Maps, the station icons can be clicked to view information on the next departures. This is also a useful addition.

Where are they getting these retardos from?

The puzzle, a Before and After said, "TAKI_ _ THE OATH OF OFFI_ E SU_ _ LIES".

This cosmetologist said "TAKING THE OATH OF THE OFFICE SUPPLIES"

HAHAHAHAHAHA

And she thought she said it right even after the next person said it without the extra "the".

Just now, this idiot said her letter during the speed-up round, and then said, "Can I shout out another letter?" to which Pat said something like, "You can, but it won't do you any good."
